What year did you start CrossFitting?

2009

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

I often credit CrossFit with saving my fitness career. I had been working in the fitness industry for over 12 years when I came across CrossFit in 2010. At the time I had become burned out on the traditional approaches to exercise and strength and conditioning. CrossFit’s methodology and ideology was exactly what I needed to rejuvenate me and that it did. I began by experimenting with the archived workouts on the CrossFit main site and from there I began to explore the opportunity to open my own affiliate. Fast forward 6 years and I am now a co-owner of CrossFit The Rack and I firmly believe that getting into CrossFit was the most important and rewarding decision I have made in this industry.

Why did you become a trainer?

I have been a fitness professional since 1998. I started off with personal training and have since held positions including Fitness Director, Head of small Group Training and Director of Professional Education for different health clubs. However, I have always held onto the dream of owning and operating my own gym. I ultimately became a CrossFit coach in an effort to make this dream into a reality. Since obtaining my Level 1 CrossFit certification I have found coaching in CrossFit to be the most rewarding experience of my career in fitness. The people I work with are highly motivated, eager to learn and incredibly receptive to being coached. I love helping people reach their fitness goals and exceed their wildest expectations. I truly embrace the opportunity to work with such an amazing community of people.

What is your favorite cheat food?

Oreo Cookie Milkshakes with Whipped Cream

What’s your favorite Superhero and why?

Deadpan because he’s the contrarian superhero

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

I sort of stumbled into it in college in 2002 and it stuck. I started with training clients one on one doing the usual one hour session with each client a 1 to 3 times a week. When CrossFit came around and started gaining some attention in around 2009/10 we took an interest and saw a great opportunity to help a broader community.

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?

Anything with deadlifting or squatting

What is your favorite cheat food?

Beer and pizza

What’s your favorite Superhero and why?

Probably DareDevil seeing as he turned what some might see as a limitation into a strength.

I recognized how effective this style of fitness was and believed I could help change people’s lives with it.

Batman, I like his choice in cars.

I’ve been an athlete since I was very young and I always loved pushing myself to learn and become better every day.

Why did you become a trainer?

I wanted to take my passion for fitness and help others achieve their goals and believe in themselves.

My Mom! She’s overcome so many obstacles, is strong in so many ways and helps others before helping herself.

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

I got into fitness to because I wanted a better quality of life. With fitness in my life, I feel I have improved my overall physical and mental health.

Why did you become a trainer?

Becoming a trainer for the kids/teens program was an just an extension of both of my passions; education and fitness. There is overwhelming satisfaction in helping kids/teens accomplish their goals.

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?

The Deadlift is my favorite CrossFit movement.

What is your favorite cheat food?

My favorite cheat food is pizza.

What’s your favorite Superhero and why?

The Hulk is my favorite superhero because of his absolute strength. HULK SMASH!

What year did you start CrossFitting?

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

I always wanted to find something that would keep me in shape- and keep my interest. Just before starting CrossFit, I was on the treadmill and outside for long runs on a regular basis. The problem was, it was a chore- and I didn’t feel like I was in better shape. CrossFit gave me the variety and challenge- and results I had been looking for.

Why did you become a trainer?

I love it and always enjoyed sharing my knowledge with new/er members. I also wanted to better understand why CrossFit worked,- and why it had taken me and so many others so long to figure it out. The ability to teach others was a bonus.

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?

Anything that makes friends question my sanity.

What is your favorite cheat food?

Grilled chicken. Ha! Cookie dough, straight up.

What’s your favorite Superhero and why?

Wonder Woman. Flies in an invisible plane and doesn’t care that people can see her, sitting in the sky.

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

A chance to be in a healthy, competitive environment, work with an amazing group of people, and, with my midlife crisis in full swing, it is much healthier (and cheaper) then a Porsche and a hair transplant.

Why did you become a trainer?

An opportunity to pass on what was taught to me, and what I have discovered. Nothing is more fulfilling to me than seeing a newcomer accomplish something they never thought possible.

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?

Uh??…thrusters???

What is your favorite cheat food?

Chocolate filled twinkies

What’s your favorite Superhero and why?

Aquaman….because I know nobody will pick him. Poor guy.
